DeWaltโs First Cordless Transfer Pump Offers Higher Performance
For Pros working in trades like HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing, a transfer pump is a useful tool to help you get fluids from point A to point B with little hassle. DeWalt is entering the ring with its first 20V Max cordless transfer pump in a tool class that doesnโt have a ton of competition. Iโm looking at this tool ahead of its launch to see how it will fit into your work routine.
DeWalt 20V Max Transfer Pump Basics

- Model: DeWalt DCE050
- Transfer rate: up to 10 GPM
- Transfer up to 300 gallons of tap water per charge
- Max lift height: 25 ft
- Self-priming pump
- LED-embedded power switch
The DeWalt DCE050 transfer pump is designed for use with liquids including water or a 60%-40% water/propylene glycol mixture. DeWalt tells us it can transfer up to 300 gallons per charge using a 5.0Ah 20V battery.
This tool has a transfer rate of up to 10 gallons per minute using tap water. Doing the math, youโre looking at up to 600 gallons per hour, though only DeWaltโs highest capacity batteries can do that on one charge.
If youโre looking for a corded comparison, DeWaltโs numbers are similar to what you get in the 1/4 HP class.
The DeWalt 20V transfer pump is self-priming, meaning you donโt have to spend time priming it manually beforehand. It features a 3/4-inch threaded inlet and outlet connection, as well as an LED-embedded power switch to help you see the controls in dimly lit areas.
Applications

Tradesmen in the HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration fields benefit from transfer pumps regularly. The advantage of one with a cordless design is that you no longer need to look for a power source to connect to.
This is especially useful for those working in areas with no power. Itโs difficult to lug a generator onto every jobsite and it takes additional time to get everything set up.
Even when power is available, it can be far more convenient to use a cordless tool that doesnโt require a corded power source for quick service calls.
One major trade-off compared to corded models is that your flow rate is lower if youโre used to the 1/2 HP class. Although, itโs notably faster and stronger than entry-level electric models. The other trade-off is you have to manage batteries for power.
