EGO Reaches New Heights with Its Most Powerful Handheld Blower
Each year, weโre seeing outdoor power equipment brands surpass new benchmarks in the cordless equipment world. One of the most noticeable trends is with battery-powered blowers. EGO has been one of the brands at the forefront of this race, and the newest contender in the 56V Power+ lineup is the 880 CFM blower. Iโve had a chance to review this model in depth to see how it stacks up against EGOโs other high-performance handheld blowers.
Pros
- Excellent blowing force
- Hit the 30 N mark
- Well-balanced design
- Lightweight
- Produces up to 880 CFM
Cons
- Shorter runtime

EGO 56V 880 CFM Blower Performance

- Max air volume: 880 CFM
- Max air speed: 200 MPH
- Blowing Force: 19.8 N (Turbo), 18.5 N (high)
- Stated Runtime: up to 90 mins (with two 4.0Ah batteries)
Blowing Force
The EGO LB8800 blower sports a brushless motor that drives air volume levels of up to 880 CFM. This is the most powerful handheld model weโve seen from the brand. In fact, its top specs are just shy of the current CFM leader, Toroโs 60V 900 CFM blower.
It features three power modes, letting you adjust your airflow from 270 CFM to 700 CFM, or engage turbo mode to reach the top 880 CFM level. In turbo mode, this blower also produces airspeeds of up to 200 MPH for moving heavy debris like rocks, wet leaves, and mud.
These numbers are all well and good, but we like to rely on the Newton Force numbers to define true blowing force. EGO claims up to 30 N of blowing force from this blower, and thatโs a bold claim for a handheld model, especially since even Pro gas-powered models peak around 15 N.
During our testing, the LB8800 produced 19.8 N on turbo using a 4.0Ah battery, which is great, but still far below what EGO claims. Deciding to dig in a little further, I paired this blower with some larger batteries to see how that affected our numbers. Hereโs what I found out:
| Battery | Tested Blowing Force |
|---|---|
| 4.0Ah | 19.8 N |
| 7.5Ah | 24.3 N |
| 12.0Ah | 29.4 N |
As you can see, battery selection is pivotal when discussing power levels. Using EGOโs largest 56V battery, we almost hit their stated 30 N benchmark. Yes, we were still 0.6 N off, weโre still dealing with warm, humid environmental conditions which affects our results vs lab ones.
Whatโs most important is knowing what to expect based on the battery youโre using. If you donโt want the weight of a high-capacity battery, you wonโt be able to tap into the blowerโs best performance. For example, youโll only have access to the first two speeds if you use anything smaller than a 4.0Ah battery, further limiting the overall blowing force.
Runtime
For runtimes, EGO estimates up to 90 minutes on the lowest speed setting using the two kitted 4.0Ah batteries; this equates to about 45 minutes per battery on low. In high, youโll get around 12 minutes of trigger time, and if you kick it into turbo mode for the entire session, youโll get about 8 minutes.
During our testing, this blower ran for 12 minutes and 35 seconds on high with a 4.0Ah battery, further crediting EGOโs claims. Keep in mind that the turbo mode is truly intended for short bursts rather than prolonged use, so the 8-minute estimate isnโt a major concern for us.
EGO 56V 880 CFM Blower Design

- Model: EGO LB8800
- Power Source: EGO 56V battery
- Weight: 4.9 lbs (bare) 9.7 lbs (with 4.0Ah battery)
- Tool Length: 35 in. (w/o nozzles)
- Ingress Rating: IPX4
Size and Weight
The LB8800 is EGOโs first blower with a carbon fiber body. Weโve seen several EGO string trimmers with carbon fiber shafts, but itโs not a material weโve seen expand into other parts of the lineup until recently. This design helps keep the blower lightweight yet durable, weighing just 4.9 pounds as a bare tool.

This is also the first handheld blower from EGO that has a digital display, similar to their 56V Farm and Ranch chainsaw, letting you keep an eye on your battery levels, power mode, and more.

Finally, this blower includes a tapered nozzle to concentrate your airflow and a fan nozzle to quickly remove debris from larger areas.
EGO High-Performance Handheld Blower Comparison
Hereโs a quick look at EGOโs high-performance blower lineup. Keep in mind that as each one of these launched, it broke new ground in battery-powered blowing force. So, itโs a helpful comparison and recent history lesson.
| LB6700 | LB7650 | LB8800 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air Volume | 670 CFM | 765 CFM | 880 CFM |
| Air Speed | 180 MPH | 200 MPH | 200 MPH |
| Peak Newton Force | 21 Newtons | 26 Newtons | 30 Newtons |
| Weight (bare tool) | 4.8 lbs | 4.6 lbs | 4.9 lbs |
| Price (kit) | $269 | $329 | $439 |
EGO 56V 880 CFM Blower Price
This blower retails for $299 as a bare tool, or $439 as a kit, including two 4.0Ah 56V batteries and a charger. EGO backs your purchase with a 5-year warranty on the blower and a 3-year warranty on the batteries.
The Bottom Line
The EGO LB8800 blower represents an impressive step forward for their 56V OPE lineup. Hitting the 880 CFM mark is an impressive feat by itself, but managing to reach 30 Newtons propels this handheld blower to the next level for battery-powered technology. On top of that, the overall design is familiar, approachable, and notably lightweight.
Looking at the specs alone, this blower is a real heavy hitter, and after our hands-on testing, we now know that EGO is breaking new ground for residential OPE. It delivers top-notch performance and a user-friendly interface thatโs sure to impress.
However, youโll only get the best performance if you use a high-capacity battery. If youโre using it with the 4.0Ah batteries that come in the kit like we did, youโll top out around 20 Newtons. That leaves you with an important decision. My recommendation is to go with this model if youโre willing to take on the weight of a bigger battery. If youโd prefer to stick with a 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah pack, youโll get higher blowing force from the LB7650.

Hey, curious which model 4Ah battery you used for this review on the 880, thereโs two different versions and would greatly affect your test results as one has better internal cells than the other.
Great question, Greg. Weโre using the latest generation. This is the first time weโve seen EGO step their performance based on the battery to this degree. The new Commercial model does the same thing.
Thanks for confirming, the model number is BA2242T for the one that can source more current (BA2240T is the one that canโt, I think they still sell it though).
If you did test with the BA2242T, EGO should at least tell people looking to buy that the batteries included in the kit they put together canโt come near the specs they claim โ thatโs not a very good marketing practice.
