Making the Case for Kingโs Camo XKG Pivot Pant
As an outdoorsman, Iโm constantly on the lookout for crossover gear thatโs effective for both work and play. Enter Kingโs Camo. Designed for rugged backcountry hunting out west, their lineup is durable, comfortable, and promotes movementโeverything I look for in a great pair of work pants.
Itโs made from a durable blend of 94% polyester and 6% spandex woven into a 4-way stretch with articulated knees and gusseted crotch. The weight, feel, and movement are very similar to Truewerkโs T2 pants, but with a couple of key differences that change the game.
First of all, it has a Grip Strip waistband. Two silicone strips wrap around the back inside of the waist, keeping your tucked-in base layer from pulling out and your pants from sagging. Whether itโs preventing the cold from creeping in or simply not fighting your clothes all day, itโs a welcome upgrade.
Second is what appears to be two long zippered pockets along the side of both legs. Theyโre not actually pockets, though. They unzip to reveal a mesh lining to promote airflow. When the day starts chilly, keep them closed for optimal warmth. As the day and your body warm up, open them to increase the breathability and stay comfortable.

Should You Buy It?
I wrestle with temperature management during the fall and spring transition seasons. Itโs easy enough to add or remove layers on top, but itโs a pain when it comes to my work pants. Kingโs Camo XKG Pivot Pant has the perfect solution with its side mesh vents allowing a cooling air flow when I need it and closing up when more warmth is in order. That, plus a durable, moveable build, odor control, and Grip Strip waistband come together in a winning combination.
Itโs a workwear upgrade that nearly any tradesman can benefit from. However, thereโs one caveat. You might want to pass on the Camo pattern if youโre working on busy jobsites. The Dark Khaki or Charcoal would be a better call there.
