Makita just released two new multitools, the 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Multi-Tool Kit (model LXMT025) and the corded Multi-Tool Kit (model TM3000CX5). Compared to other models on the market, these tools look to be hitting the market as โsecond-genโ level tools, with sufficient build quality to impress us out of the gate and enough runtime (18V cordless) and power (corded model) to be very practical.
Makita TM3000CX5 Oscillating Multi-tool Features
The new Makita TM3000CX5 oscillating multi-tool is powered by a 3.0 amp motor with a soft start for smooth start-ups. The variable speed control dial allows a flexible operating range (6,000 โ 20,000 OPM) and enables the user to match the speed to the application. The electronic speed control maintains constant speed under load for smoother, higher-quality work. Similar to the Makita 18V LXT Multi-tool, the new TM3000CX5 has a 3.2-degree oscillation angle engineered for faster, more aggressive cutting and sanding.
The TM3000CX5 also features a range of comfort and convenience features, including reduced vibration (6 m/sยฒ) and lower noise (74dB), a small diameter barrel grip, a large on/off slide switch with lock-on button, and a clamp system and adapters (included) to fit most competitive accessories.
The TM3000CX5 has a barrel grip that looks nicely shaped for a comfortable hold. The power switch uses a large on/off slide switch with a lock-on button, and the tool comes with a pressure/clamp disc and an adapter so you can use nearly any competitive accessory. However, unlike the cordless LXMT025, it lacks a front-mounted LED to illuminate the work area.
Tradespeople of all kinds are turning to oscillating multi-tools for a full range of applications. Makita seems to have imbued these models with both power and advanced features, includingย vibration reduction andย lower noise. With both aย cordlessย 18V LXT Li-ion multi-toolย andย a corded oscillatingย multi-tool, Makita has two greatย options forย contractors.
โAs the market leader in 18-volt lithium-ion, it is only natural that Makita delivered a cordless oscillating multi-tool with the speed and performance of a corded multi-tool. This new multi-tool is just one of more than 50 tools that are all powered by Makita LXT Lithium-Ion, the industryโs first 18-volt lithium-ion battery.โ
