You know capacitance touchscreens have really made it when even your homeโs deadbolt uses one. Arrowโs new Revolution stand-alone touchscreen deadbolt came across our desk this week and it looks to take high-tech where high-tech has never gone beforeโฆ right to your font door (OK that sounded a lot cooler in my head). So now you can use a modernized touchscreen system to enter your home. The Arrow Revolution Deadbolt can permit unique code-based access for as many as twenty-five different users (and a single โSupervisorโ user) โ all without the hassles and worry of giving out keys. Is this what you want on your home? Maybeโฆ maybe not, but the commercial applications are pretty darn cool. Since itโs basically a standard deadbolt, in terms of the internal locking mechanisms, the Revolution deadbolt is nearly as easy to install as conventional locks โ and apparently programming isnโt that difficult either. The only caveat is the need for an additional hole to allow the touchscreen cable to connect through the door to the power supply on the inside.
Furthering the โcoolness-factorโ the system has a multi-lingual voice-guided interface (English, Spanish & French) that lets you get everything configured without the use of a manual. Itโs important to note that while there are certainly other security solutions that involve more complex, networked features โ this is a standalone solution that is simple to install and represents a nice, elegant multi-user solution for access. The bolt action is actually motorized and works off 4 AA batteries that will last up to a year.
The system works by palming the screen with your hand, which activates the LCD screen. You than enter your code and walk in. The lock can work in either silent or โbeepyโ mode where the system registers each keystroke as it is pressed. Want one for your home or office?
