Rockwell Warranty Extended to 20 Years

Rockwell Warranty Now Covers Brushless Tools for 20 Years โ€“ Batteries Included

It seems that thisย is the season for warranty updates. Last month,ย we saw the expansion of theย Makita battery warranty to 3 years, 2014 sawย Festool Service All-inclusiveย come online, and Ridgid Lifetime Service Agreement registration is now easier than ever to obtain. Now, Rockwell has announced the extension of its tool warranty, which will take effect on its new line of 20V cordless power tools. The new 20-year Rockwell warranty covers tools and batteriesโ€”including free battery replacement once the tool is registered. The 20V brushless power tools toย be warranted include the drill/driver, 3-speed impact driver, hammer drill, and 1/2โ€ณ impact wrench.

What Rockwell Tools Says

Rockwell claims that their 20V brushless power tools are designed for optimal performance and extended service life. Backing the tool for 20 years puts their money where their mouth isโ€”and including freeย battery replacement is sure to raise some eyebrows. This shift of tool warranty and free replacement batteries assures Rockwell users and professionals that they can cut future tool and battery costs.

โ€œThese days, youโ€™ll find a 20-year warranty on a roof, mattress, automobile and maybe new home construction, but itโ€™s rare to find it on durable consumer goods such as power tools. With a 20-year life cycle, this new line of brushless tools is built to perform and last.โ€

Jeanne White, Rockwellโ€™s Senior Product Manager

Rockwell is confidently offering this warranty specifically thanks to their brushless motor technology. With reduced heat and friction, and no brushes to replace, we know that brushless tools last longer. Few companies have dared extend their warranty this far, though.

This is a big deal with respect to the new Rockwell battery warranty. Currently, if you use your tools regularly,ย you can reasonably expect to get threeย toย five years out of one pack. That means thereโ€™s potential for some people to receive several battery pack replacements at no charge over the lifetime of the tool. Since these batteries can cost upwards ofย $100 each, thatโ€™s a pretty good warrantyโ€”and motivation for a closer look. The question with having a tool warranty that long is whether the tool can stay relevant for that length of time. Fortunately, as long as the tool meets the userโ€™s needs, they should be adequately covered.

20 Year Rockwell Warranty Covers 20V Brushless Power Tools

The 20 Year Replacement Battery Agreement is available for all Rockwellย hand-held battery-powered tools featuring MaxLithium, LithiumTech, Compack, or PowerTank batteries. They also include these newly announced tools:

  • 20V MaxLithium Brushless Drill-Driver (RK2852K2, $179)
  • 20V MaxLithium Brushless Impact Driver (RK2860K2, $189.99)
  • 20V MaxLithium Brushless 3-Speed Impact Driver (RK2868K2, $199.99)
  • 20V MaxLithium Brushless Hammer Drill (RK2853K2, $219.99)
  • 20V MaxLithium Brushless 1/2 in., 3-speed Impact Wrench (RK2855K2, $259.99)

To accept the Rockwellย 20 Year Free Replacement Battery Agreement, you must submit the warranty registration forย the tool within 90 days ofย purchase. The warranty is non-transferable and only good for the original owner. You can also do this online. Read the full warranty details on the Rockler website.
