This has got to be one of the more brilliant (pun intended) inventions of recent memory. The SnapRays Guidelight is basically an LED outlet cover, available in decorator style or standard, that replaces your standard outlet cover plate. The SnapRays Guidelight has three LEDs (light-emitting diodes) that illuminate the area directly under the outlet. Since it’s integrated into the outlet cover, the system keeps both outlets available for use at all times. It’s also better when you want to cover the outlets for protection around toddlers. As if the system weren’t cool enough, it automatically activates based on the amount of ambient light in the room.
How the LED Outlet Cover Works
The SnapRays Guidelight installs right over your traditional or Decorator-style electrical outlet. There are (patented) “Power Extractors” that actually tap power off the brass hot leads on the outlet receptacle (you turn the power off before making the connection). That means the SnapRays Guidelight LED outlet cover extracts power right from the receptacle and doesn’t require batteries or any sort of hard-wiring. It’s absolutely genius in its design.
All That and Color Choice, Too
SnapRays Guidelights LED outlet covers are available in either standard duplex or decorator style. While the decorator style Guidelights technically fit over the top of GFCI outlets, the power extractors won’t function due to a design difference. The Guidelights are available in three colors: white, light almond, and ivory, which makes a total of six different Guidelights.
This is by far one of the coolest inventions we’ve yet seen. It has the potential to revolutionize the industry and provide a whole new product category that will replace the traditional “nightlight” as we know it. I can see these becoming commonplace and standard for any hallway or bathroom light installation.

Currently, pricing ranges from $24 for a single cover, plus you can buy multiple Guidelights in packs.
