Makita 18V X2 LXT OPE Expands to Include Blower and String Trimmer

Makita has released new OPE cordless tools as part of their cordless solutions for landscapers – the Makita 18V X2 LXT (36V) Brushless Cordless Blower and String Trimmer. Both landscaping tools are the first in their category to be powered by two 18V batteries without leaving the versatile 18V battery platform. Furthermore, the two new cordless solutions are also part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion series that now offers over 100 tools.

The new cordless blower and trimmer feature Makita’s BL Brushless Motor that is electronically controlled to optimize battery energy use. Since the new tools are brushless, the motor runs cooler and more efficiently. Additionally, the new Makita 18V X2 LXT OPE solutions are equipped with Extreme Protection Technology (XPT), engineered to provide increased dust and water resistance in harsh work site conditions. Both tools also feature Star Protection Computer Controls, allowing the tool to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions when in use to protect against overloading.

Makita 18V X2 LXT (36V) Brushless Cordless Blower

The Makita 18V X2 LXT Blower’s Lithium-Ion batteries increase run-time by up to 29 minutes at 15,800 RPM. The compact Makita XBU02Z features a 3-stage LED battery charge indicator, 3-stage telescoping long nozzle, and in-line fan design that provides better tool balance. In addition, the cordless blower has 6-stage air velocity/volume settings with a variable speed control trigger and rubberized soft grip. 120 mph air velocity matches what we would expect in this class of tool while 473 CFM volume kicks it up a level for better performance.

Makita 18V X2 LXT (36V) Brushless Cordless String Trimmer

With low speed setting using two 18V LXT 5.0Ah batteries, the new trimmer can deliver up to 60 minutes of run time. The Makita XRU07Z features instant start-up, Constant Speed Control, and 2-speed options (0-5,000 to 0-6,500). Like all lithium-ion OPE, it has zero emissions and reduced maintenance. The dual line bump feed head features a 13-3/4″ diameter cutting capacity. Clockwise rotation helps direct grass clippings away from user. In the event clippings wrap around the head, you’ll be able to reverse the cutting direction to help untangle the mess.
