The Kobalt cordless ratchet wrench features a 3/8″ drive and a brushless motor that generates up to 55 ft-lbs of torque and extends the life of the tool. If you need to apply more pressure than that, you can add some manual muscle. The high-strength handle can withstand up to 150 ft-lbs of torque.

The wrench has a variable speed trigger that spins up to 250 RPM and boasts an electric brake.

An all-metal gear train adds durability to the tool, and a built-in LED light brightens up those dim corners that nuts and bolts often like to hang out in.

How Much Does it Cost?

As a bare tool, you can snag the Kobalt KRW 124B-03 for $119 from your local Lowe’s. At the moment, we haven’t seen as part of any combo kits. It comes with a 5-year warranty.

Thoughts on the Kobalt 24V Max Brushless Ratchet Wrench

I love cordless ratchets and I’m excited to see Kobalt come out with one of their own. It looks like this is a brand-new model considering the lack of chatter and that there’s only one white-background photo. Even though it’s on Lowe’s website, it’s not available at any of our local stores or for purchase online. We’ll work on getting one in for review so we have more details to share with you.

When you look at the overall landscape of cordless ratchets, finding one as budget-friendly as Kobalt is tough, even more so when you add a brushless motor.

The biggest obstacle for this or any other cordless ratchet wrench on an 18V/20V Max platform is how to work with the battery. 12V systems with pod-style batteries make it easier to pop the battery into the handle and call it a day.

Slide-style packs for 12V, 18V, and Kobalt’s 24V have to slide onto the outside of the handle and have the potential to get in the way when you’re reaching deeper around an engine. If you stick with a 2.0Ah battery, it will keep the overall profile slim enough to reach much better than the 4.0Ah and 6.0Ah packs.

Kobalt’s line of mechanic’s tools on the 24V Max system is getting deep enough that I’d really like to see a combo kit or two with these tools in them. In my idealistic world, I’d love to see this cordless ratchet wrench, the 1/2″ impact wrench, brushless drill, and maybe the brushless grinder. It’s just a thought.
